Priorities

Our main priority at the moment is to improve our English. I am trying to use "total immersion" with my wife and son - trying to only speak to them in English. It seems to be working with my son, whose vocabulary is coming on in leaps and bounds, but it's harder with my wife, who spends a lot of time listening to Chinese on her mobile phone. She does like watching television in English, though, and her favourite programmes are Gardeners' World, Songs of praise and wildlife documentaries. She watched David Attenborough talking about how to save the planet from destruction, which is also a major priority.

Avoiding catching covid is also vital, so we are having our own family lockdown until the government sees the mistakes it has made and calls for another lockdown, which should be in about 4 and a half weeks' time. I don't know if schools will start in September, but our son is doing his GCSE's next year so continuing his education is important.

We also need to avoid travelling anywhere at the moment until the current wave is over in the UK and Spain , so we've got to try to find ways to empty both flats in Barcelona. We need to contact friends and family in Barcelona and ask them if they need any furniture, but I would like to try to bring our books and Chinese notes to Limpley Stoke, but I´m not sure how we can arrange that - perhaps we could talk to the landlady and ask if they could help with that. We need to explain the situation and ask what they suggest.

I reckon my wife should sell everything in Barcelona and look for something to do in England but she's still clinging on to the hope that she can keep her Chinese school in Barcelona going. I beg to differ and think she should close it down, sell her flat and complete our move to the UK once and for all.
